HOW DOES REIKI WORK?

As everyone has energy and an energy field, the act of a Reiki practitioner placing hands upon another person will create an energetic interaction.

Placing of hands anywhere upon the body will have an effect. However if the Reiki practitioner is familiar with the locations of the organs, the endocrine glands, the nervous system and the energy meridians in the body, a more precise or focused effect can be produced.

Consequently, through knowledge, experience and awareness of the function of the organs, endocrine glands and energy meridians, the psychological and physical disposition of a client can be understood or intuited by an experienced Reiki therapist. This is achieved by learning to be sensitive to the sensations experienced in the hands, and through knowledge of the energetic emotions expressed in the organs and the endocrine system.

Not only does a Reiki therapist develop “listening hands,” but also more energetic hands.  These two gifts are developed through awareness training practice and through Kikko, a Japanese form of Qi Gong or inner energy movement. Awareness/ consciousness and energy, or Yin/energy and Yang/consciousness are dependent and co-existant with each other. Through awareness movement, breathing techniques and development of consciousness a Reiki therapist can induce the energy in another being to move, expand, increase or decrease.

By placing hands on selected areas a Reiki therapist can increase energy flow to organs, balance the endocrine system, balance the mind and induce healing in another. Reiki therapy can bring about physical, emotional and psychological healing.

The life force of energy which flows in and surrounds us responds to our thoughts, feelings and physical health. Negative thoughts and feelings affect us physically through chemicals/ hormones secreted by the endocrine system, and by the energy field generated by such thoughts and emotions. By healing the energy flow a Reiki therapist can restore emotional, physical and psychological well being.
